Hi, I’m Ellie — the owner and the heart behind Kalamazoo Barks & Recreation. I’m an avid animal lover, lifelong pet owner, and someone who has been working with animals for many years. Caring for animals isn’t just something I do — it’s who I am.

I am fully insured and certified in pet CPR and first aid, and I’m committed to creating an environment that is safe, structured, and full of joy. My experience spans everything from hands-on animal care to understanding reactive behavior, enrichment, and the individual needs of different breeds and personalities.

I opened Kalamazoo Barks & Recreation because I wanted to create a different kind of pet care experience. Instead of the traditional kennel setting, I wanted to offer a safe, comfortable environment where pets can feel at home, and a familiar face they can see every time. Whether they're enjoying our kennel-free boarding and daycare or receiving care in the comfort of their own home, my goal is to reduce stress, keep routines consistent, and make every pet feel loved, secure, and part of the family.
